There is a push by the never satisfied left, to remove a historical marker commemorating the Robert E. Lee Memorial Highway in downtown Charleston. The marker is located at the former Rivers High School campus, currently the Charleston Charter School for Math and Science, at the corner of King and Grove streets. This would be a clear violation of the Heritage Act by my interpretation. A show of public support would benefit the cause of keeping the marker in place. It is my recommendation to send letters of support to the following:

Mayor John J. Tecklenburg
P.O. Box 652
Charleston, SC 29402

Charleston Charter School for Math and Science
Mrs. Mary Carmichael
1002 King St.
Charleston, SC 29403

You may also send a letter to the editor at the Charleston Post and Courier. This can be done on the Post and Courier website.  CLICK HERE
